El Anzuelo & Heat Wave

It has really been warming up the last week or so (upper 80s and low 90s).  The temperature and humidity have ramped up!  Last week every weeknight we were either at the beach for a walk, a dip in the water, or frequenting the pool.  Our condo was stifling when we got home from work-being on the third floor means you get a lot of direct sunlight!!

Luckily, Jake just noticed a program button on our air conditioner- so we can set it before we come home now!

This was an interesting sight we saw on the way to work on Friday morning.  Someone had chopped off the top of this cargo van, and created a do-it-yourself pickup truck.  We got a good laugh!

KC had training at work this week.  She learned a lot about Puerto Rico, had some good conversations, picked up a few Spanish words, and tried some new foods that were provided for snacks.  Two of those foods were: corn sticks (surullitos) are little fried sticks of corn meal, and quesitos are pastries (similar to a turnover with cream cheese inside).

We visited El Anzuelo for the first time.  This place is rated very high on TripAdvisor, but it's really hard to find.  The restuarant is in the fish market area which is filled with stands, and a few buildings directly across from the beach.

We had been planning to try this place, but someone in KC's training said she likes the mofongo here.  KC hasn't liked other mofongos she has tried on the island.  One contained different meats, and was too salty, and the other had too much garlic.  We actually liked the mofongo here- embracing the Puerto Rican culture! ;)

We also had delicious meals of wahoo caught that day, and a salad with wonderful homemade raspberry vinaigrette dressing.  The meals were so big it was hard to finish them, but they were done to perfection!

After dinner, we walked around the fish market, and the beach.

The dust from the sahara desert has made the skies hazy lately, which has created some beautiful sunsets!!
